Gentle Foam Rolling
This class is a PAIN FREE way to roll. The "No Pain, No Gain no longer applies". Janet Herman, LMT will be in office to give a tutorial on how to do a pain free gentle myofascial foam rolling. By teaching people a method of self care that is easy to do, safe, and effective, people are regaining control over their lives and able to address pain sooner.
This method was created by Kevin Lucas BCSI, LMT and was developed in a clinical setting. It has helped people with many types of pain conditions and diseases such as Parkinson’s, Dystonia, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic pain, Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, severe traumas and accidents, pediatric issues, Scoliosis, and autoimmune disorders. It is also helpful for Athletes by enhancing injury recovery and rehab, and increasing performance, and decreasing the likelihood of injury.
Relief Through Rolling was created to aid people who were not able to get on the floor because of pain and uses techniques you can do in a chair or against a wall.
Foam Rolling and the Nervous System
The nervous system is KEY. In order to change the tensional loads of holding patterns which have been created by trauma or perceived trauma, we can't just rub out or roll the tissues to facilitate change. We actually need to help clients tap into their control center, the nervous system. Only when the nervous system feel safe will it allow neurological shift and changes in the body This in turn encourages the connective tissues such as muscles, fascia, and tendons to move and function more appropriately. Techniques used in this GENTLE foam rolling class will use mechanisms in your own body to encourage it to let go of holding and tensional patterns. Learn how to empower yourself to have better movements with less pain with this pain free self care regime.
